Kate Middleton’s Brother Shared The Truth About His Place In The Royal Family

Who is James Middleton? There’s always been a certain amount of mystery surrounding Kate Middleton’s younger brother. From what we do know about him from the media, the past few years have been something of a rollercoaster ride. But recently, James has become more open about his personal struggles and his unusual place within the extended royal family. He even opened up about suffering a tremendous loss and revealed that his royal sister stepped in to lend a supportive hand.

Kate and Pippa’s little brother

To the public, James has often existed only in association with his sisters. When he spoke to Daily Mail in 2016, he admitted, “It’s always been, whether at school or now, that I am Pippa and Catherine’s little brother. It’s probably going to be the story of my life. The Middleton’s find themselves in the spotlight

James was only 23 years old when Kate married Prince William. The wedding threw the entire Middleton family into the harsh, unforgiving glare of the media spotlight. While Kate and Pippa always seemed very safe and camera-friendly, James had a tougher time. It led to a healthy distrust of the tabloid press, with James admitting, “There is more interest in negativity than positivity.”

The other Middleton

As an example, in 2012 a GQ profile was titled “The other Middleton” and it asked if James was, “A successful self-starting entrepreneur with his own burgeoning business, or a family-funded liability known for wearing his sisters' dresses and being snapped falling out of nightclubs?” In 2015 he admitted to Us Weekly, “Yes, it does get frustrating. I work incredibly hard — just like every other person in business…”
